Earth AU

Earth AU Name: Bailey Organa ("Bail")
Earth AU Age: 42

History: Bailey “Bail” Organa was born the 3rd son (out of 4) to Victor and Patricia Organa on May 4, 1978. Patricia was a part of New York’s Old Money elite. She met her husband at college. Victor was a first generation Puerto Rican from a working class family who poured their resources into giving him a good education. He went into politics and was a career politician as a state Senator for New York.

Bail’s parents were older when he was born, and he was 10 and 8 years younger than his two older brother respectively (Lesley and Riley). He was closer to his younger brother – Wesley – who was only 2 years younger than him. His parents were strict in that they expected their children to develop into hardworking, successful, compassionate adults despite their inherited wealth. (Though, let’s be honest here, their wealth did make life and success easy.) Because of his parents’ careers, Bail participated in many civic engagements and well as philanthropic events.

Bail made top marks in grade school due to natural cleverness. His older brothers tried out for sports, while Bail found his own extracurricular activities, driven by a desire to not be ‘Another Organa like his brothers’. He joined the debate team, and model UN, and he took more art and social sciences in school. He had fun as stage crew for the school theater, and he was on the year book committed and the school newspaper. By the time he was sophomore, he’d successfully broken away from his teachers’ expectations for ‘another Organa,’ and found his niche in highschool.

After he graduated, he backpacked across Europe, because that’s what new young adults did in the 90s. But to be fair, it wasn’t the same kind of desperate adventure the average American kid would have. Growing up and having been to Europe on family trips many times, he knew his way around and even spoke enough from various foreign languages to make his travels easier. And being from a wealthy family, help was always a phone call and a bank transfer away.

Bail attended Yale University for his undergrad and graduate's degree, and did everything right by his parent’s estimations. His chosen degrees: psychology and world history. From his travels abroad, he’d developed an appreciation for culture and history, but knew there wasn’t a strong career as a historian. So he double majored in psychology. He joined the honors society for both schools. He pledged to the right fraternity (the one his father and brothers had belonged to – one that provided the right networking connections but wasn’t known for raucous parties.) One year he studied abroad at the Karolinska Institute in Sweden.

After graduating with his degree, he went on to pursue a masters in clinical psychology at Yale. He met his wife (later ex-wife) in his graduate program. Catherine Dalton was one a slightly different tract than Bail, she was pursuing a degree in psychological science with the intention of a career in research rather than applied therapy. They hit it off well, finding their intellectual conversations engaging, and after they finished their masters, they got married.

Both Bail and Catherine decided to continue their education and obtain doctorate degrees in their specific disciplines. Bail applied at and was accepted to Rutgers in New Jersey. He and Catherine agreed to wait until they’d finished their doctorates to have children. It was a plan they found easy to stick to. Both were able to land jobs quickly once out of school and a year later they had their one and only daughter: Elizabeth Victoria.

After a few years of working, Bail decided to open his own practice in New York City. It was around this time that he and Catherine realized that they had grown in different directions and the spark they’d shared when they were first dating was no longer there. They divorced amicably and split custody of Elizabeth 50/50. They’ve found co-parenting rather easy and have remained, if not close friends, on good terms. Catherine remarried three years later (to someone Bail is friendly with and who is a good stepfather to Elizabeth), however, Bail has not remarried.

Bail’s life now mostly consists of his professional career and his family – his daughter Elizabeth (now 10 years old) and their pet golden retriever (Franklin), and his brothers’ families. His parents unfortunately passed away not too long ago. Otherwise life has been very consistent for Bail until he got his first memory.

Personality: Bail is a very even tempered man. He is not prone to emotional outbursts or uncontrollable emotional swings. He is not without strong feelings, though, he just finds it easy to process what he’s feeling. He is a rational thinker that prefers to analyze what he’s feeling, the context of the situation, and gather as many facts as he can before he acts. He strives to be self-composed, even when he’s angry or caught off guard. Though he is lucky in that he is naturally reserved.

He’s quiet self-aware. He grew up wealthy, but he’s had enough experiences (his father’s working class, minority family and his mother’s philanthropic pursuits) to know that wealth has given him advantages others do not have. He seeks out differing perspectives, not only because his job requires an open mind, but because it improves his life when he understands the world around him. And he knows enough that his perspective is not the only perspective.

He generally likes rules and regulations, they help define the world. And he strongly believes in the code of ethics of his profession. There are boundaries he will not cross. But he’s not above questioning authority if he feels a rule is wrong. This still aligns with his convictions, because if there are going to be rules and laws, they have to be fair and just and meaningful, not arbitrary, capricious, discriminatory, or harmful. He does like a well-researched, well designed study, and you can’t do that without adhering to the structures of ethics and the scientific method.

Bail is not very spontaneous – no surprise. He does like to plan things. He usually sticks to a schedule – necessary for a psychologist. And he prefers sticking to the plan, but if life happens, then it happens, and he’s quite flexible with change. He’ll just come up with a new plan.

Physical description: Still super tall (1.91 meters|6'3"). Tan skin. Black hair (some gray hairs starting to come in). Brown eyes. But Earth Bail has no facial hair (might think to grow one after he starts getting his memories back.)

Every society needs heroes

There are two kinds of heroes. Heroes who shine in the face of great adversity, who perform an amazing feat in a difficult situation. And heroes who live among us, who do their work unceremoniously, unnoticed by many of us, but who make a difference in the lives of others.
